We recently received a review of our winery from a customer via Square. We share it with you now and thank the kind customer who wrote it. Cheers!
What an extraordinary experience today my wife and I enjoyed at HVW. The entire staff helped to make it so, and the wines are superb across their lineup. Pinot Noirs, Riesling, and Tempranillo were all world class.
Mark, their brilliant winemaker, (above) provided us a guided tour of the winemaking facility, and then led us to their stylish tasting room. He then poured for us our first vertical flight of Willamette Valley Pinots. Mark briefly explained the subtle differences in each wine do to vintage conditions, and all were delicious.
Wine club manager Earl (above) took over our tasting experience from there, and his warmth, enthusiasm, and wine knowledge came across loud and clear. We tasted through another vertical flight of their Dundee Hills bottling, a single vineyard Pinot from the La Chenaie Vineyard, a unique Tempranillo that’s absolutely reminiscent of a fine Spanish Rioja, a beautiful Riesling from the Le Pavilion Vineyard, and concluded with a pour of one of their special cuvées, the 2012 Cuvée Gran Jean.
As I wrote earlier, these wines are truly world class. And an incredible value compared to other wines of similar quality and character. To accompany all of these wonderful wines, Earl set us up with a delicious cheese and charcuterie platter that made for a perfect lunch.
Views from their tasting room gaze out scenically on their adjacent and excellent ANA Vineyard, source of one of HVW’s most distinctive Pinot Noirs.
Finally, gracious proprietor Bill Holloran came in to talk with us about our experience in the Willamette Valley and at Holloran, and to thank us for our visit and our support.
As longtime lovers of wine in general and Willamette Pinot Noir specifically, I can unequivocally guarantee that you will too will love these wines and these people. Pay them a visit soon and enjoy.
